Prepare for six days on some of the most productive sailfish water in the world. From October through early December, the waters stretching from the Lamu Archipelago to Kui regularly raise 30-plus sailfish in a single day, one of the few places on earth where a billfish grand slam on the fly is a realistic goal.
This expedition moves north through the archipelago by traditional dhow, fishing daily from two dedicated boats under expert guidance, with every sailfish tagged and released as part of an active research programme. It's built for experienced saltwater fly anglers who want serious fishing inside a wider story.
-
Expert-led sailfish fishing - Fish alongside Captain Alex Haller and a dedicated two-boat crew, coaching the classic bait-and-switch presentation that this fishery is built around: teasers raise the fish, the fly goes in, and the take is worked on the drop-back.
The northern sailfish run, at its peak - Six days fixed inside the exact window this fishery is known for, with boats regularly raising 30+ sailfish a day and genuine opportunities at marlin, tuna and wahoo on fly.
Conservation through tagging - Every sailfish is tagged and released through the Billfish Foundation's Global Tagging Initiative, contributing real data on movement, growth, longevity and population connectivity each time a fish is recaptured.
Life aboard a traditional dhow - Home for the expedition is the Tusitiri, a hand-built Swahili dhow with a dedicated crew, comfortable cabins and full-board dining on deck, moving the expedition steadily north through the archipelago each night.
